Course Readings

Your instructor may provide readings and other course materials through the library. These materials may be available online through Brightspace or the library catalogue, or as print materials you can borrow from the library.

Find your course readings 

Check Brightspace

Your instructor may provide readings through your Brightspace course. Look in the Content section of your course for readings and other course materials. 

If you can't find a reading your instructor assigned, check your course syllabus or contact your instructor.

Search the Library 

Your instructor may place books, textbooks, articles, and other materials on reserve. Reserve materials are selected for a specific course and usually have shorter loan periods so that more students can access them.

Search the library catalogue using your course number, course name, or instructor's name to find materials placed on reserve. 

When you find an item, check its location and availability information to see how you can access it.

• Online materials can be accessed through the catalogue record.
• Print materials are available at the service point of the library listed in the item record.

If you can't find a course reading in Brightspace or the library catalogue, contact your instructor. 

How long can I borrow a reserve item?

Reserve materials have shorter loan periods than most library materials. Loan periods vary depending on the item and may range from a few hours to several days. 

Check the item's loan information before borrowing it. Please return reserve materials on time so other students in your course can use them.

Archived exams 

Archived exams may be available for some courses. Availability and access depend on the program and course.

Faculty of Agriculture students: Archived exams are available through Brightspace. From Academic Support, choose Self-Registration, and then find and register for “Online Community - MacRae Library Reserves.”
