CAAL Cards
Council of Atlantic Academic Libraries Borrower's card
The 19 members of the Council of Atlantic Academic Libraries - Conseil des bibliothèques postsecondaires de l’Atlantique (CAAL-CBPA) developed the CAAL Borrower's Card.
The CAAL Borrower's Card enables you to borrow material in person from any CAAL/CBPA institution in the Atlantic Provinces as well as most other Canadian University libraries that participate in the Canadian University Reciprocal Borrowing Agreement (CURBA).
Eligible Borrowers:
- Dalhousie students, faculty and staff: request a card from the Service Point/Circulation Desk of any Dalhousie Library.
- Distance Education Students request a card when registering for a library barcode (see Distance Services).
Ineligible:
- General public and visiting scholars may not receive CAAL cards from Dalhousie.
Loan policies
Lending libraries loan material to CAAL cardholders based on their own lending policies.
For example: Acadia University library will loan material to a visiting Dalhousie undergrad under terms that apply to undergraduate students at Acadia.
Dalhousie students, faculty and staff with an CAAL card must follow the regulations and policies of the library they borrow materials from, including the payment of any charges or fines incurred.
Returns
Users may return borrowed materials to any CAAL library; however, it is the responsibility of the borrower to return material directly to CURBA libraries.
