GIS & Data Services

Accessing data, technology, and associated services

The Dalhousie Libraries assist with mapping and data projects for Faculty and students. These projects may be associated with a research program or a course requirement. We use a variety of software tools to extract and enhance datasets, which can be used to tell a story.

We support students' research activities by: finding data layers for specific geographic locations; helping to find microdata from Canadian and international surveys; extracting Canadian statistics from various sources of data; exploring data available through the DLI (found within interfaces restricted to the Dalhousie community); plus finding and using datasets compiled by other researchers.

Contact our GIS & Data Services team if you think that finding, summarizing or visualizing the data or spatial context of your interest area will lead to a greater understanding of your current problem.
