Law Library Learning Commons
Work - study space at the Sir James Dunn Law Library
Located on the main floor of the Sir James Dunn Law Library on the second level of the Weldon Law Building (6061 University Avenue), the Law Learning Commons has twenty computer workstations available for use by faculty and students:
- 16 Scholar workstations requiring login
- 4 Express workstations that do not require a login
- Visit the Law Library’s site to find out more.
These workstations give you access to via the web to databases of journals, indices and other electronic library products subscribed to under license by Dalhousie Libraries. A Dalhousie University login/password is required to use these electronic resources.
No login/password is required for the 4 "Express" workstations. They offer access to all electronic resources except for Microsoft Office.

Electronic library resources including the Novanet catalog are accessible from all workstations. All computers come equipped with:

Laptop hookups
The Dalhousie Law Library has installed laptop hookups so Dalhousie students can connect to the Internet and use web-based electronic library collections. Laptop hookups (112 ports) are available in the Sir James Dunn Law Library in the discussion rooms, study carrels and perimeter seating on the third and fourth floors. Computer lab
The Sir James Dunn Law Library has a computer lab, containing 40 workstations, located on the first floor. This lab is maintained by University Computing and Information Services (UCIS) under the supervision of Edward White (494-1230).
- Computers in this lab have Windows workstations and their primary purpose is for legal research and instruction.
- Computer labs at Dalhousie are for faculty, staff, and student use only.
- Printing in the computer lab is available at 5 cents a page. Students may put money on their Dalcard at the circulation desk of the Sir James Dunn Law Library.
